Rule #10: The 3C Rule

Jewelers use cut, clarity, color, and carat to determine the quality of a diamond. You can use this mantra to determine the perfect outfit! Just use the 3C rule of : clarity, color and cut.

Clarity: This refers to your skin tone. According to The List, you can determine your skin tone based on your skin’s reaction to the sun. If you easily burn, you have a cooler skin tone. If you tan easily (instead of burning) you have a cooler skin tone. If you are neutral you can fall into either category (meaning you don’t appear to have olive, yellow, or ruddy skin).

Color: This refers to the different colors you can wear. According to The List, if you have a neutral skin tone, earthy or warmer colors fit you best. If you have a cooler skin tone, wintery or cool colors fit you best. If you are neutral, then any color on the spectrum can fit your skin tone.

Cut: This refers to the form of the clothes. If you are curvy, a tight-fitting form accentuates your curves. However, if your clothing piece is too short it can make you appear stubby, which will take away from the entire look. If you are slimmer, loose fitting clothes hang nicely on your body type. However, if you are petite, be careful with long pants. If they drag the floor, it will actually take away from your height instead of accentuating it.
